After through long time, our government decides for executing Bali bombs perpetrator (Amrozi, Imam Samudera, and Muchlas) on Sunday early morning, November 9th 2008. As you know, there are many comments from our society about it. According to some people, particularly Australian people and victim families, that execution is compatible with their behavioral. Even several people feel happiness. Besides that, several people regret with that decision. “They enough acquire long life punishment, so they could regret it forever,” said an Australian in television.
After that execution, there are many threats for President and Vice President (SBY and Jusuf Kalla). One of the threats is from abroad cyber media. The main point of the threat is murder to President and Vice President. Additionally, our government catches one of terrorism network member in Jakarta. He stores bomb assemblies as well. There is other discovery about terrorism network which government looks for it.
Recently, the state confuses with this case. Tempo daily ever publishes in their newspaper headline with the title “Jakarta Siaga Satu”. This headline makes image that Jakarta and this country in critical situation. As you know, it just little problem about Bali bombs.
Is Indonesia as Failed State?
How about our state power from that threats? Or our country fear it, so this a sign for Indonesia as failed state. Is there Indonesia future? There are three indicators for a state is still strong or failed. This is Bursan’s analysis.
Firstly, idea of the state. There is or there isn’t a state, if there is the idea of Indonesia in Indonesia brain. I mean, this is an ideology must be growth in Indonesian heart. It relate with nationalism. So we must keep our imagines about unity of Indonesia. Secondly, the organizational expression of the state. The all government structure must be function, such as president, governor, regent, until head of village. Besides that, government buildings like hospitals, banks, and other BUMN (department of effort for public ownership). Thirdly, physical foundation of the state. It mean, government must have limit of territorial of state. The Ambalat case show to us that Indonesia not have power to defense their country. So, it’s terrible experience for us. We must be change more best.
As you know, the three points above could become standardization for Indonesia as strong state or failed state after Amrozi CS dead execution.
As well as that, there are some strategies for government after this execution and terrorism as well. First, strengthening security and defenses sector. The all government must make a consolidation intensively with all structure from central government until village level. This is as control to all parties which would to against government. The department of police are must be intensively looking for whatever related with terrorism.
Second, controlling to the lessons curriculum in the education institutions, from elementary school until university. It’s must be done. The purpose for there isn’t indication for extreme religious understanding. This is not Orde Baru regime, but as control for security in our country.
Third, strengthening leadership in all public sectors. The leadership model must be strong in all position, such as president or vice president, governor, and regent. They must be diligent and be coherent, advocating to all weak party, and they must be brave to deciding whatever quickly. Even they must be ready if their soul and family are lost caused on their decision. Therefore, as you know that public position is heavy responsibility.
So, we must make our country be a strong state, not failed state. The Indonesian people always ready to struggle for this country.
